Inspired by the traditional mukluk worn by Aboriginals to walk through the harsh snow filled landscape of Northern Canada the Vashti Bootie takes the mukluk from landscape to cityscape. Vashti Buehler grew up with the influence of native culture in her hometown of Vancouver and has family roots in Simpcw First Nation. Her study of film, photography and extensive travel has created a repertoire of diverse knowledge and design for the inspired Vashti Bootie. In Italy and with the help of Rino Orsato the world of shoe design was revealed. Artisans with their great wisdom, skills and abilities humbly shared the step-by-step process of shoe making. From the old to the new she custom designed the mould, sole and patterns with the most talented shoemakers in the world. Vashti Booties are custom designed to make you feel as unique as you are. |
